Known Gang Member Shot, Critically Wounded in North Hollywood

The victim and another known gang member were confronted outside the convenience store by three men who shot the victim once in the neck and once in the chest.

A known gang member was shot and critically wounded tonight in North Hollywood, Los Angeles police said.

The shooting happened about 9 p.m. outside a 7-Eleven store at Victory Boulevard and Vineland Avenue, LAPD Sgt. Jim Parker said.

The victim and another known gang member were confronted outside the convenience store by three men who shot the victim once in the neck and once in the chest, Parker said.

The victim and his companion ran across the street to the parking lot of a 99-Cents Only store in the 10900 block of  Victory Boulevard, where police and paramedics were summoned.

"He was transported to Holy Cross (Providence Holy Cross Medical Center) where he is in critical, but stable condition," Parker said.

Neither the victim nor the man with him would provide police with a description of the suspects, he said.
