LAPD Detective Convicted of Assaulting 3 Women at Valley Massage Parlors

A Los Angeles police detective pleaded no contest today to assaulting three women who worked at massage parlors in the San Fernando Valley in early 2011.

Oris Pace, 49, pleaded no contest to three felony counts of assault by a public officer. He is facing 180 days in county jail and three years probation, with sentencing set for Aug. 8 before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David M. Horwitz.

Pace will also be required to resign from the Los Angeles Police Department and to stay away from the three women as a result of his plea, the judge said.

Pace was a supervisor in the LAPD's Commission Investigative Division, which is responsible for enforcing business permits at sites including massage parlors, according to the District Attorney's Office. KTLA reports he was previously stationed at the North Hollywood division.

He was arrested Jan. 2, freed on bond and relieved of duty pending the outcome of the criminal case.

Eight other charges against Pace, including two additional counts of assault by a public officer and six felony counts of sexual battery by restraint, are expected to be dismissed at sentencing.
