LAPD Releases Sketch, Surveillance Photos of Suspects in Alley Shooting

A man was shot and killed near Valley Plaza Park on Nov. 18.

The LAPD North Hollywood Division released a composite sketch and surveillance video stills Monday of two suspects in a shooting that occurred Nov. 18 at approximately 1:05 a.m. in an alley near the corner of Whittsett Avenue and Sherman Way in North Hollywood.

One suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his early 20s with a striped shirt. The other suspect is described as a male Hispanic in all black clothing.

According to the LAPD, the two suspects approached the victim, who was in the alley in the 7100 block of Whitsett Avenue. The victim was shot in the back and the suspects fled from the location on foot.

The victim later died at Providence Holy Cross Hospital.

"It was a 20-year-old man, and was gang-related," Los Angeles Police Officer Bruce Borihans said.

Police said the killing was unrelated to another shooting, which reportedly wounded a 50-year-old man, at about the same time in Studio City.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call North Hollywood Homicide Detectives Kevin Royce or Tom Townsend at 818-623-4075, or after hours at 818-623-4016.
