Local Crime is Up 3 Percent, says Local Officer

Thefts make NoHo a leader in property crime.

NoHo's senior lead officer says crime is up in the neighborhood, but not violent crime.

"The good news is it’s not violent crime for the most part," said Officer John Catalano in an interview with NoHoArtsDistrict.com. "We’re not having people getting shot or gang violence; we’re having cars being broken into and stolen, and some homes as well. But the car break-ins are our biggest challenge; we actually lead the city in property crime. And it’s because there are so many people here in a relatively small area."

He said crime is up 3 percent compared to a year ago.
