Man Allegedly Hurls Molotov Cocktail Into Parents' Home

Ahmad Smadi is booked on suspicion of using the weapon at his parents' house in Castaic, though no deaths or injuries are reported.

A Sun Valley man was arrested Thursday for allegedly throwing an incendiary into his parents' Castaic home, though the device failed to ignite a blaze, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Ahmad Smadi, 26, was taken into custody in Oxnard by California Highway Patrol officers at about 6 p.m., according to a sheriff's department press release.

He's suspected of hurling a lit Molotov Cocktail through a window of a home in the 30500 block of Corsica Place around 6:20 a.m., the statement read.

A joint investigation between the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and the Federal Bureau of Investigation identified led to identifying Smadi as the suspect.

He was wanted on suspicion of felony use of a destructive device and making terrorist threats against his family, according to the sheriff's department.
