A 22-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly stabbing his younger sister to death in North Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Mario Alejandro Martinez was taken into custody a few blocks away from the scene of the alleged murder in the 6000 block of Farmdale Avenue shortly after police got a radio call around 6:45 p.m. about an assault with a deadly weapon, a statement read.
When authorities arrived at the scene they found 19-year-old Raquel Martinez, who had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was taken a hospital where she later died from her injuries, authorities said.
Mario Martinez was booked at Van Nuys Jail for murder and is waiting to be arraigned on Wednesday.
