Man Fatally Stabbed in North Hollywood

The victim was possibly killed by his roommate, police say.

A man was fatally stabbed today in North Hollywood, possibly in a fight with a roommate, police said.

The stabbing  in the 12900 block of Vanowen Street was reported about 2:40 a.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Robert Collier of the North Hollywood Station.

The victim was in his late 60s, he said. The suspect, who got away, is in his early 20s and may have been cut, as well, Collier said.

The suspect, Manuel Garcia, was described as a 5-foot, 5-inch tall Latino man weighing 130 pounds, who fled the scene wearing only jeans, said Los Angeles police officer Wendy Reyes of the Media Relations Section.     

"He (Garcia) may have received a stab wound to his back during the fight," Reyes said. "They (the police) currently have a canine unit out there looking for him."
