Man Shot Dead in North Hollywood Neighborhood

Detectives are canvassing the area in search of witnesses.

A man died from a gunshot wound to the chest in North Hollywood this morning, a police sergeant said.

Witnesses called to report shots fired around 12:45 a.m. at Tujunga Avenue and Kittridge Street, said Sgt. Larry Poehls of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

The victim, a man who possibly was a transient in his 50s, was found on or near the street and pronounced dead at the scene, Poehls said. He had been shot in the chest.

The suspect was on foot when the shooting occurred, the sergeant said.

The shooting was in a residential area with mostly single family homes and apartments and detectives were canvassing the area in search of witnesses, Poehls said.
