A motorcyclist from the San Fernando Valley was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Angeles Crest Highway, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The motorcyclist was identified as Dan Cretu, 38, of Valley Village, according to a department statement.

The bike went over the side of the canyon road about four miles north of the Foothill (210) Freeway, and crashed into the Angeles National Forest entry sign. He flew off the 2012 Aprilia and came to a rest on the dirt and grass slope below the road.
