Authorities Friday identified a motorist who was fatally shot in Sun Valley during a possibly gang-related confrontation with another driver, who remained at large.
The shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at La Tuna Canyon Road and Sunland Boulevard.
Jose Penado, 32, of Los Angeles died at a hospital, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.
Penado was stopped at the intersection when he became involved in an argument with the driver of another vehicle, according to Los Angeles police. The suspect shot Penado -- whose passenger escaped injury -- and sped off.
Police did not release a description of the suspect or the assailant's vehicle.
