Motorist Shot Dead in Gang-Related Attack in Sun Valley, Police Say

Authorities Friday identified a motorist who was fatally shot in Sun Valley during a possibly gang-related confrontation with another driver, who remained at large.

Jose Penado, 32, of Los Angeles died at a hospital, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Penado was stopped at the intersection when he became involved in an argument with the driver of another vehicle, according to Los Angeles police. The suspect shot Penado -- whose passenger escaped injury -- and sped off.
Police did not release a description of the suspect or the assailant's vehicle.
