North Hollywood Man Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

From City News Service

A man who died when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV in Canoga Park was identified by the coroner's office today as 32-year-old Kondwani Cole of North Hollywood.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Independence Avenue, just west of DeSoto Avenue, at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, said Sgt. E. Waschak of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

Cole was riding a Honda Shadow eastbound on Victory Boulevard and it collided with a Volvo XC90 making a left turn onto westbound Victory Boulevard from northbound Independence Avenue, Waschak said.

Witnesses said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed just before the crash, Waschak said.

The motorcycle skidded along the ground before it struck the left rear section of the SUV, near the axle, Waschak said.

Cole was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he died, Waschak said.

The SUV driver, a 41-year-old man who was not injured, was not cited or arrested, Washak said.
