By City News Service

Authorities today were working to identify a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train near Burbank Airport.

The victim was a man, but his identity has not been determined, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The fatality was reported at 3:16 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street, said Sgt. Nina Sutter of the Los Angeles County sheriff's Transit Services Bureau.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The 75 passengers aboard the train at the time were uninjured, Scott said.

The train was stopped west of the Burbank Airport station while authorities investigated the death, Scott said.

Another pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrolink train around 9:36 p.m. in Upland in San Bernardino County, Sutter said. That victim was also pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
