The 50-year-old male victim was attempting to photograph an act of vandalism in progress, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A 50-year-old man who tried using his cellphone to photograph two suspected gang members tagging on a wall at Hatteras Street and Tujunga Avenue Tuesday was shot in the calf, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was riding on a bicycle when he noticed two men tagging a wall around 8:50 p.m., said Sgt. Mike Kammert.

When he attemped to take a picture of the act of vandalism, one of the men pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot the victim as he tried to escape, Kammert said.

The victim was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical center and is in stable condition, he said.

The suspects, who fled the scene on foot, are in their 20s, Kammert said.

Don't mess with gangs, you can't win, the best you can do is take note, move along and report it to police...which may not solve anything but it beats getting shot.
