Police Catch Up to Hit-and-Run Driver Trying to Flee Site of Crash with Motorcycle

UPDATED: The motorcyclist has died.

A driver was apprehended trying to flee the scene of a crash that fatally injured a motorcyclist in North Hollywood early today.

Los Angeles police Sgt. Jodie McGee said that according to preliminary information, the driver had been heading north on Lankershim Boulevard and attempted to turn left onto Magnolia Boulevard when he struck the motorcyclist, who was southbound on Lankershim.

McGee said the driver, a man in his 30s, was caught nearby and faced possible charges of vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving.

An officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division said the motorcyclist died at a hospital.
