A speeding driver ignored an order to pull over on the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway before plowing into a city bus at about 100 mph, authorities said.
The rush-hour crash, which prompted a SigAlert, occurred just before 5 p.m. at the Burbank Boulevard off-ramp, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.
"It was not a pursuit," a CHP officer said.
No passengers on the Los Angeles Department of Transportation bus were reported hurt, though the driver was apparently treated at the scene for non- serious injuries. ABC7 reports that the suspect suffered a broken leg in the crash.
The unidentified driver, who had cuts to his back and head as well as leg injuries, was transported to a hospital.
Patch will update this story as more information is available.
The chase is the second to end in recent weeks on the 170 at the same Burbank Boulevard off-ramp. In nearly the exact location, LAPD officers shot and killed a homicide suspect at the Burbank off-ramp on June 14 after a chase through North Hollywood. The location is about two blocks from the LAPD North Hollywood Division Community Police Station. Another chase down the southbound 170 ended one exit down from Burbank Blvd. on June 27. See more:
