Police Come Up Empty in Search for Possible North Hollywood Gunman

The suspect flees the scene, but drops a handgun.

A police officer was injured in an eight-block manhunt for a possible gunman Thursday night in North Hollywood, NBC4 reports.

Authorities closed streets around Magnolia Boulevard near Riverton Avenue for about two hours.

Police reportedly found a person of interest who pointed a gun at officers as he was being detained and fled on foot, dropping the weapon, which was was later recovered according to NBC4.

An officer injured in a foot pursuit was expected to be OK, the network reports.

The search was called off after the suspect, described as extremely dangerous, was called off.
