Police Pursue Suspected Car Thief in Loop Through L.A.

A stolen vehicle suspect who led police on a chase over freeways and city streets from North Hollywood to West Los Angeles and back again was collared by officers this Tuesday morning after the car he was driving spun to a stop and he tried to flee on foot.

The chase began in North Hollywood around 4:20 a.m. and proceeded through Hollywood before the suspect got onto the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway, the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway and the eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway, police said.

The suspect exited at Woodman Avenue and drove erratically over city streets before striking a curb. The Ford Contour he was driving eventually spun out on Roscoe Boulevard near Coldwater Canyon Avenue, where he bailed out and tried to flee on foot only to be caught and taken into custody shortly before 5 a.m.
