An ice cream vendor who was struck by a pickup truck and killed as he pushed a cart in Sun Valley was identified Tuesday by the coroner's office as 64-year-old Carlos Gomez.
Gomez was struck around 7:25 p.m. Monday by a Ford Ranger headed east on Tuxford Street near Glenoaks Boulevard, said Lt. David Ferry of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.
Gomez was crossing to the north side of Tuxford Street, Ferry said.
"He was outside the crosswalk, illegally in the roadway pushing a concession cart," Ferry said of Gomez, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gomez's hometown was not immediately available.
The man driving the Ranger stopped to render aid and was not cited or arrested, Ferry said.
