Street Vendor Fatally Run Over in Sun Valley

The driver of a pickup truck is not cited or arrested after running over an ice cream vendor.

An ice cream vendor in his 60s was struck by a pickup truck and killed as he pushed a cart in Sun Valley Monday.

The man was struck around 7:25 p.m. by a Ford Ranger headed east on Tuxford Street near Glenoaks Boulevard, said Lt. David Ferry of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The vendor was crossing to the north side of Tuxford Street, Ferry said.

"He was outside the crosswalk, illegally in the roadway pushing a concession cart," Ferry said of the vendor, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man driving the Ranger stopped to render aid and was not cited or arrested, Ferry said.
