Sun Valley Worker Seriously Injured by Conveyor Belt

An employee working in a pit required the help of dozens of firefighters to be carried out.

A worker cleaning a four-foot deep pit in Sun Valley under a conveyor belt was seriously injured Monday Night when the belt struck him.

KCAL9 reported that the man was hit in the head.

Thirty firefighters, including a search and rescue team, were able to get the man out of the pit, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The accident at the Crown Disposal Yard at 9147 De Garmo Ave. was reported at 7:37 p.m., Scott said.

The victim was taken to a hospital.
