Officers were searching a private North Hollywood school this morning after firefighters answering an alarm found evidence of a break-in, police said.

The alarm went off around 2:45 a.m. at The Country School, 5243 Laurel Canyon Blvd., said Lt. Brian Morrison of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

Firefighters contacted police after they saw evidence of a break-in but no fire, Morrison said.

"It appeared multiple locations were ransacked," he said. "No computers were taken and when schools get broken into that's the first thing we look at."

The Country School is a private institution, pre-kindergarten through middle school, according to its website.
