Tinted Window Violation Sparks Police Chase

Two people are in custody while police look for the driver from a chase that passed through North Hollywood on the 170 Freeway.

Two passengers who had been in a vehicle pursued by the California Highway Patrol were in custody Monday, but the driver who fled into a Pacoima neighborhood was still being sought.

The chase began near the Foothill (210) Freeway and Baseline Road in Claremont at 4:46 p.m. when California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull

the vehicle over because it had heavily and illegally tinted windows, said CHP
Officer Christian Cracraft.

The vehicle was pursued to the Hollywood (170) Freeway near the Golden State (5) Freeway where it got off and went into Arleta. The vehicle was registered in Arleta, Cracraft said.

As the vehicle circled the neighborhood, a female and then a male passenger were let off. The driver kept going until he abandoned the car near Osborne Street and Telfair Avenue nearly two hours after the chase began.

The driver had not been found as of 6:30 p.m. The driver is expected to face a felony evading charge.
