Toddler Rescued from Hot Car, Mother Arrested

The mother of the 1-year-old is being booked, police say.

A 26-year-old mother who allegedly left her 1-year-old daughter inside a car while she went grocery shopping in North Hollywood - - where temperatures were soaring above 100 degrees -- was arrested today and the child was rescued from the vehicle.

Police were called around 1:30 p.m. to a Ralphs grocery store parking lot in the 10900 block of Magnolia Boulevard on a report of a child inside a blue Nissan with the windows rolled up, according to Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman.

The doors of the vehicle were unlocked, Eisenman said.

Brian Humphrey of the city Fire Department said the 1-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in good condition. He noted that the car's air conditioning was apparently on, but it wasn't cooling the interior of the vehicle.

The child's mother was found a short time later and arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, Eisenman said. Her name was not immediately released.

According to ABC7, witnesses told police the woman had parked her car in a red zone in front of the store and gone inside, then came out once to check on the child before going back into the store.

"It was a clear choice, LAPD Officer Robert Benavidez told Channel 7. "The car was running, parked in the red zone. And to be honest with you, when we were out there at the scene, she was kind of giving us the impression that she didn't really understand why we were there or what she had done wrong."

The station reported that police went to the woman's home and took her young son, believed to be elementary-school aged. Both children were expected to be turned over to Child Protective Services, the station reported.

Someone should reach down her throat and rip her ovaries out w/a fork ... pathetic excuse for a human. Animals treat their young better ...

Unfortunately, too many people think this is ok. Their nonchalance over their children's safety baffles me. Please visit forgetmenotusa.com for more information on how you can help.

The same day, one of the sketchy people were jumped by three guys and left unconscious in carl jrs drive thru, laying in his own puke....the mgr called the police, 15 minutes they still never showed..so I called for fire rescue who came in two minutes and took him to the hospital....I know the property mgt company provides one security guard from 8-4 , but that's not enough....with ralphs and carls attracting unsavory types, they really need around the clock security....I wonder if the police ever took a report...even if the guy was a drunk, the idea of three thugs getting away with that beating unsettles me...the aftermath was a tough thing so see...

I think it is really easy to judge this person. I don't think there is a human being out there (even a bad one) who would do this on purpose. I know a man who did this last year with his baby and his baby died in the car. It destroyed his marriage and his life and he will never get over it. He has trouble just being alive now. He had recently moved to the area and changed his routine. I know as a new mother this is a HUGE fear I have and it could happen to anyone if you were distracted by something. The pain that the mother would feel would be enough to destroy anyone. I don't think it is anyone's right to judge although it is very easy to judge.

“Republicans can do it,” said http://www.coachoutletmls.com Jennifer Duffy, a Senate political analyst at the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. “It’s just getting a http://www.hermesbeltsoutletns.net lot harder.” Rob Jesmer, the executive director of the National http://www.coachfactoryoutletion.com Republican Senatorial Committee, said Thursday that Republican candidates were within http://www.coachfactoryonlinemb.com reach of victory in 10 to 12 competitive races, with Mr. Romney’s improvement in the polls http://www.coachoutletonlineef.org lifting candidates in states that were out of play six weeks ago.But time is dwindling. The state railway, Deutsche Bahn, operates http://www.outletcoachstoday.com what it calls - using the English that http://www.coachoutletod.com infuriates language purists - a Call a Bike scheme. http://www.coachs-outletcar.com There is a bank of red bikes outside the station. On the bike, http://www.coachoutletdp.com there's a telephone number which you call, and http://www.coachoutletwo.com the voice at the other end gives you a code to http://www.coachfactoryoutletsp.com unlock the bike. When you've finished, you lock it http://www.coachfactoryoutletli.net to something fixed and call the number with a code and somebody picks it up. http://www.coachfactoryoutletce.org You will be charged eight cents a minute. But most of us have our own bikes. We http://www.coachoutletonlinelc.net do not wear helmets. It is foolish, but we don't. I always mean to - but I http://www.coachoutletonlinesc.com don't. I realise that the brain is man's second favourite organ - but I still http://www.coachoutletonlinelsa.com leave my helmet behind. There is an argument now that if cities insist on http://www.louisvuittonoutletct.com helmets for bike-hire schemes, then people simply don't ride bikes. And if http://www.louisvuittonoutletti.org people don't ride bikes, then they're less fit and that means that more of them http://www.coachoutletrf.com die of heart-attacks.On this argument, insisting on helmets raises the overall death.

We are given minds to reason and therefore we have every right to pass judgement on this negligent parent. In this day and age, what responsible person would leave an infant in a car alone, car unlocked? First, the child could have succumbed easily to hyperthermia and secondly, a baby snatcher could have taken that poor baby. That mother needs to be educated on responsible parenting, or have her children taken away forever. Period.
