Minivan Crashes Into Chinese Restaurant

One person is hospitalized with extremity injuries.

A minivan crashed into Tang Thai China Cafe in a Valley Village plaza leaving one person hospitalized Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It happened at 2:12 p.m. at 5219 Laurel Canyon Blvd., said LAFD spokesman Erik Scott. The driver and his two passengers were among five people evaluated by paramedics.

One person was transported to an area hospital with extremity injuries, Scott said.

The front window was smashed, but there doesn't appear to be any structural damage, he added.

The cause of the crash was due to the driver losing control of the vehicle and there won't be a criminal investigation, said Sgt. David Delgado of LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.

"The driver probably just hit the gas instead of the brakes," he said.
