Only eight out of the nearly 40 North Hollywood area marijuana dispensaries were listed among 135 weed shops in Los Angeles that will be permitted to remain open by the city following the voter approved Proposition D.

Pot shops to remain open in the area are:

  • North Hollywood Compassionate Caregivers, 4851 Lankershim Blvd.
  • Divine Wellness Center, 5056 Lankershim Blvd.
  • Cahuenga Caregivers, 5656 Cahuenga Blvd.
  • Valley Herbal Center, 11675 Vanowen St.
  • Herbal Relief Caregivers, 6446 Lankershim Blvd.
  • Northridge Caregivers Co‐op, 12517 Oxnard St.
  • Patients Against Pain, 6240 Laurel Canyon Blvd.
  • Patients and Caregivers Los Angeles, 6141 Vineland Ave.
Proposition D, passed by voters in May, calls for a drastic reduction in the number of medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles and allows only 135 dispensaries to remain open.

Those 135 selected dispensaries have been permitted to remain open because they registered with the city prior to ordinances passed by the City Council in 2007.

In addition, a spokesperson for the city attorney's office told KPCC that to make the list of 135, those businesses also had to be registered with the city in 2011 and under Measure M, which began taxing the sale of marijuana.

Proposition D could potentially close down up to 1,000 marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles, the Daily News reported.
