L.A. Mayor Candidate Wendy Greuel Talks Track Record, Getting Things Done

Wendy Gruehl a "doer" ...hmmm...she was on City Council when they gave away lavish pensions to City unions that are bankrupting LA. She was on City Council when they gave away lavish retiree benefits to City unions that are bankrupting LA. She helped give away high pay, lots of paid days off, pension spiking. etc. Gruehl with the other 13 Democrats running LA created this mess where 1/3 of LA City's budget is used just for paying people who are no longer working, aka retired City employees, who by the way, get to retire at a much younger age than you and I and they get 3 times the pension of a typical private sector person who is paying for all that . Two years from now LA City will use HALF of its budget for pensions +retiree benefits, an outrage. Chicago & LA are the two major cities racing to bankruptcy. Look at Stockton to see where we are heading. Gruehl helped create our huge DWP bills that are now bigger than our mortgages. She helped create a city that reduced street sweeping from every 4 weeks to every 27 weeks and only 3 guys assigned to clean our storm drains for the entire SF Valley now. LA has zero dollars budgeted for sidewalk repairs & tree trimming; they only do those services on an emergency basis. Street Services, Bldg & Safety; most departments were cut 2/3 & they plan even more cuts. Services have been drastically slashed; have your taxes been drastically slashed? Vote for Kevin James, the only outsider, or else LA City deserves bankruptcy & decay!

Agreed.
Under Greuel, Garcetti, and Perry-- Reduced tree trimming. Reduced sidewalk repair-- and reversion to homeowner easement liability. Reduced street cleaning. Now charging for emergency services that taxpayers fund. No illegal construction inspections-- Monday or Friday-- leaving 4 days to "usurp" the permit process. That's a lot of lawn sprinklers, roofing, tree removal, fences, and rewires for unscrupulous "contractors/homeowners. Higher Trash removal rates w/o the ability to opt out and use private haulers. Usurious DWP rates based upon a "manufactured" yearly crisis. Grandiose Pensions, benefits, perks, and special treatment for all who belong to the "L.A. Family"-- or what I term Tammany Hall West. Protection from criminal and civil prosecution for L.A.'s chosen "elite." Unhampered urban development w/o regard to a crumbling infrastructure. Prodigious payouts to claimants against the city-- i.e. L.A.P.D. Cutting and reduction of vital community programs. Dallying about on issues of specious concern while Rome burns. This concludes my daily "Citizen" whining. My chariot awaits me as I head out to Fab's for a Cheese Coney.

Agreed another hack job artcile by "Reporters" who try and pass themselves off as journalists. A real printed newspaper delivered to my home every Friday, Los Cerritos Community News exposed her last week as working very hard on the taxpayers dime to advance her mayoral own campaign. Take a walk around Studio City..where there were attractive small homes and garden apartmentsl, there are now massive apt buildings and Sec 8 housing that has brought a huge increase of crime, abandoned grocery carts, littered streets, abandoned furniture, and a plethora of commercial vehicles parked for days on end while the 72 hour restrictions are ignored. Sorry, Wendy...you were no Joel Wachs....

unfortunately the few that will get off their butts to vote for mayor will be those that vote for te letter next to the name and not the candidate. Under Gruel, Garcetti and Perry our once great city has become a shi!hole.
if you want to finally improve LA, we need to get people to wake up and see what is going on then get them out to vote. So far the only candidate that wants to save LA is Kevin James.

Vote no for sales tax increase. We pay highest sales tax in the country; perhaps socialist Hawaii has higher taxes. When politicians say the word "invest" convert that word to TAX, that's what they mean. When you tax something (work), you get less of it. When you supplement something (welfare, food stamps, Obama cell phones, free lunches), you get more of it. Most politicians are very good at spending other peoples' money. City Council has one so-called Republican (Mitch Englander), one so-called Independent (Zine), the other 13 are Democrats, the mayor a Democrat, and they have ruined this City. Vote for the only Republican running for Mayor, Kevin James! If you don't you deserve continued decline. LAMC 56.08 requires owners to maintain their parkways & sidewalks, even if it is behind their block walls such along Tampa, Devonshire, and other major streets. But LA laid off 2/3 of the Street Services Investigators that are supposed to enforce this, so weeds are tall & trash accumulates along major streets. Northridge looks like the slums. Greig Smith got a motion passed unanimously by City Council in 2007 that would fine these violators; he realized that is the only way they will take care of these disgraceful parkways & sidewalks. Mitch Englander won't push Greig's motion 07-0699 forward, so a bunch of us volunteers clean up those disgraceful parkways & sidewalks every week. Mitch wants to raise property taxes; he's no longer a Republican. Vote all incumbents out!

I looked at one of my 15 yo DWP bills; Look Mom....no sewer service charge....but there were sewers and they managed. The refuse rate was a fraction of the outrageous figure I see now. See that guy stealing the aluminum cans from your blue can?....what's those papers he's taking too? Call the cops....maybe they stop by that day or maybe not. We need to shave those fabricated pocket-liners out of our lives.....no more spend and tax....no more giveaways to illegals. Pot holes? ....don't waste your breath, or bandwidth.

Wendy Gruehl, Jan Perry and Garcetti are ex council members so they are the ones that are bankrupting LA City. Why in the world would anyone vote for any of those 3 insiders? We need drastic changes at City Hall, not more of the same. These 3 gave away the lavish pensions that are wrecking our City. They are the ones that are causing our services to be drastically cut. Most departments have been cut by 2/3 and that's why street sweeping is practically non-existant on Open Routes. They caused parking fines (aka taxes) to go up 80% over the last 5 years. Building and Safety cut so drastically that they no longer go after the banks that foreclose and allow the houses to turn into blighted messes. It takes almost 2 years before Bldg & Safety gets those blighted messes cleaned up by the banks or deadbeat homeowners. There a bunch of those ugly blighted messes in my neighborhood and they are wrecking property values. The people in Bldg & Safety are mostly assigned to new and remodeled bldgs because the owners must pay for those services via permits and so Bldg & Safety doesn't take care of old business such as blighted houses.
LA budgeted nothing for repairing our wrecked sidewalks and zero for tree trimming so they only react when there's an emergency. Vote no for raising our sales taxes; our taxes are high enough already. Buy your big ticket items in Simi to save money; that will send a message to City Hall. Vote for Kevin James!!!
