Meeting to Describe How the L.A. River Banks Will Be Transformed

The goal is to make five miles of continuous river trail by linking existing trail segments.

Want to learn about beautification efforts for the Los Angeles River from Coldwater Canyon to Whitsett Avenue? A community meeting is scheduled 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Beverly Garland Hotel, 4222 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood.

The goal is to  make five miles of continuous river trail by linking existing trail segments, according to a flier for the event.

The L.A. River Greenway Walking Trail and Habitat Restoration Project includes:

  • Half-mile scenic riverfront walking trail
  • Bridges the gap between existing sections of the L.A. River Greenway Trail to create five continuous miles of L.A. River Greenway Trail
  • River-themed entry gate
  • Native habitat restoration and removal of non-native trees
  • Planting over 4,000 native trees, shrubs, and plants
  • Benches and picnic area for river viewing
  • Native habitat walk and river viewing area
  • River-themed fencing
  • Trail and trail access compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act
Community Conservation Solutions was awarded $2 million in state and county grants to restore native habitat in the L.A. River.
