NoHo Library to Open 7 Days a Week in 2014

Voters spoke in 2011 to restore library funding throughout the city.

NoHo's branch of the Los Angeles Public Library system is going to open its doors every day of the week starting sometime in 2014 thanks to a ballot measure passed two years ago to restore library funding.

The North Hollywood Amelia M. Earhart Regional Branch currently opens six days a week and is closed on Sundays.

Senior Library Jeanne Rankin said she doesn't know exactly when next year the change would go into effect, but she's glad it's happening.

"I know other regional libraries that are open on Sundays, it's a very busy time, a lot of people come," she said.

The extra day to browse through books and get free computer access is due in part to Measure L, a voter approved ballot item that passed in 2011 with a 63 percent margin to reverse a $22 million budget cut enacted by former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

The NoHo library is located at 5211 Tujunga Ave.

How do you feel about the library getting expanded hours?
