North Hollywood High Student Receives Silver Congressional Medal

From the office of Congressman Xavier Becerra:

Congressman Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, presented Monday the Congressional Award Silver Medal to William Chung, a senior at North Hollywood High and resident of Koreatown.

Chung earned the silver medal by setting and achieving challenging goals in four program areas that include: public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration.

“I’m honored to present this award to an accomplished student like William,” said Becerra. “His dedication to personal improvement and serving his community show that he’s on his way to being one of tomorrow’s leaders. He makes his family and local community deeply proud.”

Congress established the Congressional Award in 1979 to recognize initiative, achievement and service in young people. The Congressional Award provides a unique opportunity for young people to set and achieve personally challenging goals that build character and foster community service, personal development and citizenship.
