North Hollywood's Amelia Earhart Continuation School on Chopping Block

The school is primarily for students who may be considered at-risk of not graduating.

is among 13 that could be closed by the Los Angeles Unified School District under a plan to save the district $6.5 million, according to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News.

Amelia Earhart Continuation School is located next to North Hollywood High and is primarily for students who may be considered at-risk of not graduating with their peer groups. There are roughly 105 students enrolled at the school and seven faculty members. On average, class size is about 22 students per teacher.

The continuation schools could remain open if the district's labor unions agree to double-digit furlough days or other concessions, according to the report.
