North Hollywood Toyota's plan to build an elevated bridge between its main showroom and used car lot on Lankershim Boulevard was approved by the Mid-Town NoHo Neighborhood Council on Wednesday.

The bridge is part of a $10 million overhaul to rebuild the used car lot at Lankershim and Hortense Street, said Chris Ashworth, vice president and general manager of the dealership, during his presentation to the board of directors.

The proposed 8-foot wide bridge would have railings on both sides lined with vegetation, Ashworth said.

He said the bridge, which would closed off when the lots are closed, and the improvements would generate more tax revenue each year for the city.

"It'll definitely beautify the area," said board member Carol Wyner. "Everybody wins."

The proposed project still has to win approval from the city. Ashworth said the project could get underway by next spring.
