Day 1 Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Win a Behind the scenes tour of 'Modern Family'

The biggest annual event in Valley Village takes place Saturday.

The Colfax World Fair arrives tomorrow! Dozens of parents were at the school all day yesterday setting up tents, booths, tables, chairs, and the stage. Students at Colfax Charter Elementary are so excited to see their little school being transformed into the biggest event in Valley Village. This is the final day of the 15-Day Countdown to the Colfax World Fair, and we highlight some of the very best activities, food and entertainment that will take place in only mere hours.

Attraction: Ultrazone Laser Tag

The Colfax Word Fair is just too big to go to Ultrazone, so Ultrazone is coming to us. A huge tent will be devoted to the ultimate laser tag adventure. Strap on your vest and aim your weapon. There’s still a couple of weeks left of school, so it’s probably best not to aim at your teacher.

Special Area: Fresh Pressed Silk Screen Printing

When was the last time you got really excited about buying a new shirt? It’ll happen here at the Colfax World Fair Fresh Pressed Booth where kids and adults alike get to personally choose, design, and screen print their own t-shirts. You can mix and match designs and choose your color of ink. The shirts are stylish and comfortable, made from mostly organic materials, and there will be a wide selection from name brands Threads4Thought and American Apparel. Fresh Pressed Screen Shops uses sustainable materials whenever possible and is involved with many charitable organizations and events.

This year, we will also be selling unisex leather wraps from Good Work(s) Make A Difference. These versatile wraps can be worn as bracelets, ankle bracelets, necklaces, and even belts (on your custom t-shirt, of course). They sold like gangbusters at April’s Rockin' For Colfax concert, and they're popping up on students, teachers, and parents all over the campus. Colfax students even presented one as a gift to Steven Tyler on a recent class trip to an American Idol taping (and yes, he put it on immediately!). Good Work(s) donates 25% of net profits to good causes, and their mission is to make fashionable, inspirational, and empowering merchandise that will motivate others to spread encouragement and random acts of kindness throughout the world.

Food Vendor: Colfax Cafe

Legendary baker Amy Maguire is heading up the Bakery Booth again, and last year’s amazing array of delectable desserts will be a very tough act to follow! For 2012 she’ll be creating a "Colfax Cafe," next door to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf booth, with table and chairs outside her storefront. Every scrumptious morsel has been lovingly baked and donated by Colfax parents, grandparents, and friends. Amy has over 30 bakers contributing everything from an assortment of cookies, brownies, rice krispies treats, banana bread, magic bars, donuts, specialty cupcakes and even Colfax mom Cinthya Cisneros' individual-sized flan.

Entertainment: Dance Party

As the fair starts to wind down, DJ Jerry Antonelli will be cranking up the music for a huge dance party. He really knows which tunes to play to get people to move. This will be your time to dance away some of those calories you ingested at the fair and it’ll be a great place to hang out until the Silent Auction totals up your winnings.

Silent Auction Item: Modern Family Behind the Scenes Tour

Do you love to talk about last night’s episode of Modern Family around the water cooler at work? Think how cool your co-workers will think you are when they find out that you won a private behind the scenes tour of this hit comedy! Truly a one-in-a-lifetime experience!
