The Most Secretive Holiday Celebration in Studio City

The Moorpark and Tujunga Merchants Association is having an open house.

People will be walking the streets of Moorpark and Tujunga singing Christmas carols, free samples will be given out at the stores and Santa will make a stop.

But, the Tujunga-Moorpark Association, a loose-knit group of community residents and business owners, doesn’t want to make a big deal about it.

So, unlike the snow at Beeman Park on Sunday where there is publicity and radio promotion, this small community event purposefully wants to fly under the radar. It's meant for the neighborhood, and many of their events are only advertised by word-of-mouth or private Facebook invites.

“They want to keep it small, they aren’t telling the media, they’re not even telling Patch,” said a business owner who attended the planning meetings, but asked to remain unidentified. “So I’m wondering how many people will come?”

Many restaurants and stores in the area:, , and others are planning their own private music, bands and giveaways inside the stores.

You’ll just have to go to find out.

Publicity to date continues to be a hand-drawn quarter-page flyer that was handed out to customers who happened to drop in on the area this past week.

See the flyer above of the Moorpark Tujunga Merchants Annual Holiday Party that goes from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Studio City today (Dec. 3.)

And, even if this event is publicity-shy Santa hasn’t forgotten the area, and plans to make a visit.

Thanks Mike! I think if I'm good maybe Diane will take me to this super-duper party again this year! -- Heidi the dog

Well Heidi, we will look out for you and Diane (and maybe Alan).... and by the way, I see that the poll says they want you to write more of your joint columns... http://patch.com/A-pk3G.... but frankly your stories come in with more typos than Diane's (it's those big paws on the keyboard, I know)...I personally much prefer Diane's :) ... have the rest of you voted? http://patch.com/A-pk3G
