Week Ahead: Town Hall With Councilman Krekorian; Free Senior Workout and More

Lots going on in North Hollywood this week, including a question and answer meetup with Councilman Paul Krekorian, fun activities for the elderly and trivia night and an evening of throwback music at the Federal.

Monday

The Red Nation Film Festival is in town and is hosting a film lab conversation titled "Native Women in Film & Television" from 7-9 p.m. at the Laemmle NoHo 7. 5240 Lankershim Blvd. $5 per ticket.

Think you're the king or queen of random knowledge? Prove it. Head to the Federal Bar at 8 p.m. for the latest installment of the new King Trivia event. 5303 Lankershim Blvd.

The Mom's Club of North Hollywood is hosting an open house at 1 p.m. For location and to RSVP 818.621.6966 or email marytesta@hotmail.com. The local chapter of the Mom's Club nonprofit support group hosts interesting speakers and discussions, plans  park play days, special outings for mothers and their children, family holiday parties, and activity groups like playgroups.

Tuesday

The Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is hosting a seminar titled "How to Supervise People and Lead a Team" led by Glenn Shephard, who's written six books on management, and commands $15,000 for a speaking engagement.

Jazz group the Silver Lake Trio will play their free weekly show starting at 8 p.m. at Bob's Espresso Bar. 5251 Lankershim Blvd.

NoHo resident and pianist Randy Emata will be performing in the back lounge of the Federal Bar. He specializes in playing the smoother groovier side of jazz/R&B/pop along with Michael Reason on drums and William Matthew Taylor on bass. Show is free and starts at 8 p.m. 5303 Lankershim Blvd.

Wednesday

Pinz bowling in Studio City is offering discounts for senior citizens. Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday $6 for 2 games including shoes, donuts, coffee, raffles, and bingo! 12655 Ventura Blvd.

The North Hollywood West Neighborhood Council is hosting a special town with LA City Councilman Paul Krekorian at 6:30 p.m. Community members are invited for an evening of questions and answers. Saticoy School Auditorium 7583 Ethel Ave.

Thursday

Seniors are invited to a mind, body and soul workout class for seniors at At One Fitness. Free introductory course with workouts like balance and core exercises. Class starts at 10:30 a.m. Instructors are Jack Witt and Robin Hart. 11116 Weddington St. Click here for more info.
Take a trip back in time with live DJs spinning classic hip hop and R&B tunes at the Federal Bar for Snapback Thrusdays. No cover. $5 well drinks and $2 PBR's.

Friday

Head to Zombie Joe's Underground theater for Breaking and Entering. "a darkly comic-thriller that follows W.J. Trumbull, a Salinger-esque figure  whose hermetic existence is threatened when an obsessed fan breaks into his home and propels them both into a mesmerizing and murky descent of truth, illusion and the mystical power of baseball."
