Week Ahead: Holiday Open House; 'The Nutcracker' Comes to Town and More

Monday

It's time for Actors' Karaoke at the Other Door Bar. It's not about how well you impress others with songs you already know by heart, try a new tune! Starts at 9 p.m. 10437 Burbank Blvd. 

Tuesday

EngAGE, a nonprofit organization providing life-enhancing programs to active-aging apartment communities, will partner with the Actors Fund and Covered California to present an information workshop on the new health care provisions for actors, artists and the general public to be held at the NoHo Senior Arts 
Colony, an arts-focused apartment community for adults age 62+. Event is free and starts at 4:30 p.m. NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd.

Jazz group the Silver Lake Trio will play their free weekly show starting at 8 p.m. at Bob's Espresso Bar. 5251 Lankershim Blvd.

NoHo resident and pianist Randy Emata will be performing in the back lounge of the Federal Bar. He specializes in playing the smoother groovier side of jazz/R&B/pop along with Michael Reason on drums and William Matthew Taylor on bass. Show is free and starts at 8 p.m. 5303 Lankershim Blvd.

It's open mic night for aspiring and amateur comedians at The Other Door bar from 7-11 p.m. 10437 Burbank Blvd.

Wednesday

The Federal Bar is hosting Hilarious Hump Day, an evening featuring the stand-up antics of Nick Youssef, Jeff May and Eric Schwartz. Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Click here for more info.

Friday

The annual Toluca Lake Holiday Open House is being held at 10116 Riverside Dr. Santa Claus will stop by for a visit and there will be carolers, street performers, merchant giveaways, food and of course, the lighting of the giant Christmas tree. Event is from 5-9 p.m. 

Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation holds its Annual Fundraiser To Benefit Struggling Single Parent Families. There’s no budget for a costly party. That’s why we’ll have a pizza party: a guilt-free fundraiser for a worthy cause. Children’s Production Company’s eighth annual season offering up the timeless 
Tchaikovsky ballet to southern California residents. Friday, December 6th
