It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

The man should be buried where his fans can visit him regularly . They won't disappoint or neglectRead More him. They will always unconditionally love him. When a true celebrity dies all that's left is the fame they achieved, the people they starred with and the celluloid images embedded on film. Mickey Rooney outlived his contemporaries and should be able to rejoin his Motion Picture family in death especially since he disinherited his own family in life .

nitagregory April 9, 2014 at 09:45 am
......I'm speechless lol
Jeff April 9, 2014 at 05:42 pm
It's not that a Kardashian or Hilton aren't reality-based celebrities . They are and I have noRead More tolerance for them personally. They are like dinosaur leeches that grab a hold on our societies lowest common denominator and will not let go. We have become a voyeur society and these families are the Queens of that society. It's degrading and putting our morals on a slippery slope. Personally the use of the word celebrity has less than stellar qualities in today's world than it did yesterday I just hate when someone is called a celebrity because of the sex tape or some other lack of talent or because they have money or are a child of someone of significant note. These bottom feeders and I know that's an unkind statement but these folks are useless examples of what we should not strive for in society and wind up being voyeurs instead . This Type of celebrity appears on supermarket tabloid covers , new stories and is really not worthy of even a mention if you actually looked at what they can accomplish however the damage they're doing to our society and to young women and men everywhere is reprehensible and the press just buys right into it. It's a rant against the loose moral fiber invading out media and lives. The real celebrities and heroes we should look up to are still there but we have a different judgment call today those folks aren't stylish there not splashy or glitzy they don't embarrass themselves they strive to make this world at better place , we tend not to reward that kind of behavior and it's really a shame

@Alex Bloated pensions of our teachers?! Teachers pay for their own pensions. The school districtRead More doesn't contribute a single dime to any teacher's pension. Unlike the city, county and state workers, they get their money matched. For every dime they contribute to their pensions, the state, county or city matches that dime. What would be nice would be to have the district pay for supplies so the teachers don't have to shell out the money. I understand that extra curricular activities cost money but that is something you choose to participate in. I would love to see the parent's reaction to having to provide construction paper, writing paper, glue sticks, scissors, paint, tape, staples, etc. to their child's education. I know that was just a few of things I had to provide for my students each and every year.
KarmaKing March 19, 2014 at 01:57 pm
"Teachers pay for their own pensions. The school district doesn't contribute a single dime toRead More any teacher's pension." Not so Sarah. Teacher's contribute 8%, school districts contribute 8.25% and the State kicks in 5%. That's according to CALSTRS which is the State's teacher pension system ( http://www.calstrs.com/general-information/plan-funding-faqs) and a recent OC Register article here: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/state-602273-percent-districts.html. of course, if CALSTRS can't address it's $70 billion unfunded liability, taxpayers have to pick up that tab also.

I would consider going somewhere other than loreal for beauty/sunscreen products. After a backlashRead More on their animal testing procedures in the '80's they quit testing on animals but instead outsourced that testing. It took them until last year to stop that outsourcing but they still have a disclaimer that they 'may' test under certain circumstances. Do you really trust their sneaky policies? I strongly suggest looking into what you are putting on your skin before just slathering somethingRead More that says SPF whatever. Your skin is like a mouth and will drink whatever you put on it. Some long range forecasts are indeed predicting a series of "Pineapple Express" storms inRead More March. Whether you believe they are being enhanced or engineered as "drought breakers" by a government operation (as I do) it underscores the efficiency and power of the hydrologic cycle. It is something we need to protect and pass on to future generations in California.
Stuart Ebert February 24, 2014 at 06:45 pm
Advantages of a normal climate/hydrologic cycle include: Incredible power. Capable of deliveringRead More thousands or millions of tons of snow to Sierra Nevada in a single storm. @Donna, straying slightly from the topic, the answer to your question is: ownership and money.Read More Privately owned land cannot (will not) be directly taken from a developer. This is bad business for the city. The new trend is for cities to arbitrate an agreement to set aside acreage as green space. With the new developments, the cities gain an increase in the tax basis. Either way, the end result is that both parties profit.
