If their new place is going to advertise veggie/vegan options, I hope they offer more than just aRead More couple side dishes....a salad bar isn't going to attract me either. There should be some unique, creative veggie/vegan friendly entrées even if the rest of the menu is fish and meat. The Federal does an amazing job blending a conventional menu with vegan items that appeal to Arts District customers.
george May 17, 2013 at 11:09 am
also, Lotus Vegan has a killer silky peanut butter pie, maybe have something like that, or raw foodRead More specialties
george May 17, 2013 at 10:55 am
Hope they will continue to offer southern foods in addition to better selling ones, I love catfish,Read More briskets and collard greens.
Artemiza Newton stands by one of the many old paintings she has for sale at her store at 5520 Cahuenga Boulevard.
Reverend Joseph Shore-Goss May 17, 2013 at 12:14 pm
Love this place glad she is in the neighborhood

Another quirky, gigantic and fascinating place is Rock City Railroad on Hollywood near Western, tonsRead More of fascinating antiques, a sprawling model railroad layout (ask the owner to run it for you) and several high-ceiling out-buildings full of old Hollywood collectibles.
Jean Jeunet May 16, 2013 at 12:42 pm
Nice to see another antique store in NoHo. It is quite a bit cluttery and overwhelming. It'd be hardRead More for me to focus on each individual piece.
Bob Peppermuller May 10, 2013 at 08:41 pm
Gee I just remembered. We used to have one of sorts. It was called Bush's Stationary. Where theRead More empty lot is next to the Federal.
Laura May 10, 2013 at 07:33 pm
Ramen. A ramen place would be good.
Bob Wynne May 10, 2013 at 07:13 pm
Regarding an art supply. Yeah, locally, close by. there really isn't anything except maybe CarterRead More Sexton on Laurel and they are really pricey with their stuff. I think a lot of local artists would welcome a Blick's here, including myself. The closest one right now is in L.A. or Pasadena.
Jay Hughen May 21, 2013 at 10:41 am
"Unleashed" signage went up this morning. http://unleashedby.petco.com/
Julie May 8, 2013 at 12:18 am
A little worried about the lack of parking. That lot can get quite busy!
Audrey Fox May 7, 2013 at 07:31 pm
same Laura--there are two Petcos in East Valley--but no Petsmart--and they carry the prescriptionRead More food my dog eats--

Love the oversized scissor that actually cuts the ribbon. And who's the fabulous guy with the minkRead More stole?
David Keesey May 3, 2013 at 11:48 pm
Great organization it benefits from too. Helps those HIV/AIDS individuals unable to afford medicalRead More care and medications.
Bob Peppermuller May 3, 2013 at 07:37 pm
That is a real neat catchy name. Thrift Store sounds so blah.
Jean Jeunet May 3, 2013 at 07:04 pm
A welcome addition to the nabe

The other thing that Bitcoin does better is the sending of money. You can send Bitcoins to anotherRead More person for free without a middle man involved like Western Union. There's also a hard cap on how many Bitcoins can be mined, so it's not subject to a Federal Reserve printing money out of thin air when it wants to. Also this copy shop is great, I've been there many times and the staff is super friendly. I'll have to chat up the guy running it about computer stuff next time I see him :)
Matthew April 20, 2013 at 05:51 pm
NO he is crazy to be support the bike coltion.
Tristen Ngo April 20, 2013 at 02:12 pm
Me three!
LABornAndRaised April 20, 2013 at 01:49 pm
I don't know about the bike "coltion," but someone is definitely crazy. Thanks for theRead More heads up. I'll be dropping by more often.
David Rivers April 16, 2013 at 09:50 pm
Hopefully the owner will now have room to distribute all the stuff he has between the 2 stores.Read More Honestly, walking by the G store, it's so overwhelming and overstuffed that I don't feel comfortable enough to walk in. To each his own.
Matthew April 15, 2013 at 10:00 pm
This is the best place in all of Noho . Plus they have a lot of cute looking girls working there.
Furniture Store April 12, 2013 at 05:14 pm
O no! That's so sad to hear! It does seem hard to make it as a furniture storeRead More http://www.ifr-furniture.com/harrisburg-furniture-stores.php, no matter where you are.
Laura April 12, 2013 at 04:52 pm
It reminds me of an old Mad Magazine cartoon in which there was a guy who managed to work the factRead More that he had a new Cadillac into each and every conversation he got into.
Edward Holzer April 12, 2013 at 11:40 am
Are you a real person?
David Rivers April 12, 2013 at 08:21 pm
Tried to get into "Bob's Burgers," but it's just not doing it for me. Glad to see anotherRead More entertainment company move into the nabe though.
Riki K. April 10, 2013 at 11:59 pm
This place is amazing. I bought an original necklace their for my wife and she won't stop wearingRead More it. Highly recommended.
Matthew April 9, 2013 at 10:18 pm
This great store for NOHO. I have vist them may times I talk to them about the bike lane onRead More Lankershim .
Laura April 9, 2013 at 04:00 pm
Welcome!
gregg guellow April 1, 2013 at 03:38 pm
What happens when one of theses guys hits a pedestrian with one of these signs? Aren't there lawsRead More against advertising in public spaces(sidewalks)? It is impossible to read anything on the sign with all the spinning and flipping. Seems pointless and a public hazard.
Bob Peppermuller March 30, 2013 at 11:18 pm
Well this may sound crazy but I would like a eating establishment that rates a review on the FoodRead More Channel's "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives". We have a lot of places but nothing that compares to D, D and D.
Matthew March 28, 2013 at 09:18 pm
It will go through on Vineland .
David Keesey March 28, 2013 at 06:31 pm
I like the idea of a bike store David. Adding another dimension to it by including a bike rentalRead More shop along with the bike parking area would utilize both badly needed businesses. Being able to rent a bike to travel up and down the Chandler Bike Path would be incredible. I don't know of any bike rental shop in the NoHo area just shops that sell bikes. This would be ideal, especially if the bike lane goes through on Lankershim or Vineland.
Matthew March 22, 2013 at 08:57 pm
Yes there pies are dame good. I like all of them. They also have the best coffie in the hole worldRead More .
Maria Foley April 27, 2013 at 06:41 pm
. I hope both businesses thrive. Better business, better community. I wish something wonderful wouldRead More move in next to Valley Stores.
Joe Cusick April 27, 2013 at 05:06 pm
Maria: I, too am a Studio City native. The first time I went to Henry's was in 1961 at the age ofRead More 12. Nevertheless, I look forward to trying Cactus Tacos there is room for both in the village.
Maria Foley April 27, 2013 at 04:18 pm
If you're the Fred I know and love since I'm a child, let me just say the new location of Henry'sRead More Tacos warms my heart. Finally, something as good as The Firehouse...lol..What will probably come down is us natives will continue to support Henry's Tacos and strangers and passerby's driving down Moorepark will got to Cactus Tacos. I hope thier is enough business for both. Look we've seen it all. I cried when they closed the movie Theater and now the Amphitheater for some stupid Harry Potter ride. Oh well...But then again I come from the school of getting Salami at Sal's deli. We never paid for aything at that deli. He was so in love with my Mother. lol.Wasn't everybody? She was a Goddess.GOD Bless our little village and all it's wonderful memories.I miss Berkey's...and A Liquor......and the original Valley Stores with it's wonderful Deli goes without saying....

This is so cool. Glad to see my favorites in the 90's
Ronald Hays April 17, 2013 at 03:49 pm
Spoke with Magnolia Street Widening Project manager. He explained that the original street lampsRead More will be restored and replaced with LED bulbs. What I cannot fathom is since the sidewalks will be so narrow, where exactly will these lamp posts fit along with newly planted Magnolia trees ? As for the overall street widening project, this project was supposed to begin 20+ years ago and has finally come around to it of which I am glad. It definitely will make a huge improvement once it is all completed so just hang in there !
Bob Peppermuller April 14, 2013 at 02:28 pm
OK now I understand, widen south side to benefit north side (west bound). There is no way it can beRead More done without some temporary pain. Now when is the reverse going to be done? This is an inkling of what will start later in the year when the LADWP starts their River Supply Improvement Project, Upper Reach putting big holes in Burbank Blvd from Whitnall Hwy to Lankershim and Lankershim from Burbank Blvd to Vanowen. This is installing a 6 1/2 diameter pipe over a period of several years. There will be unhappy campers.
Hugh April 13, 2013 at 08:51 pm
I want to know when the councilman will stop the petty punishing of the 4300 block of Colfax andRead More restore their parking!! His actions show what an uncaring and thin skinned bureaucrat he is. He should be ashamed of himself. I sure wish his district was coming up for a vote this year. See Colfax curbs controversy on youtube then call his office and complain!!
Shelby April 7, 2013 at 09:23 pm
Thank you for sharing - I will try this place!
Beverly R. Bolin April 7, 2013 at 07:19 pm
I actually have been seeking a reputable shoe repair shop. So glad to hear that one exists in theRead More East Valley area... and that it is highly recommended! Thank you so much for putting the word out. How else would we know?
Andrea Singer April 7, 2013 at 02:37 pm
Me too!!!! i live in Toluca Lake so he is at the perfect location for me.
