I like the choice. Byron Scott knows what winning and Laker pride is all about.

Ah, so *that's* what went before their fall!
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is making a pitch to have the 2024 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Fedra Tamaddon July 25, 2014 at 10:05 am
Yes! that would be wonderful for the city
South Bay Resident July 25, 2014 at 10:13 am
Why? The Olympics is a scam. Everyone knows that. I wonder how many poor people and homeless peopleRead More will suffer if the Summer Olympics is hosted here? Will the mayor round up the homeless from the streets of Los Angeles and ship them all off to Phoenix and Tuscon again? A good way to piss off the mayors of Phoenix and Tucson and their citizens. Wouldn't it be weird if the money used from taxpayers to subsidize the Olympics were instead used to create housing for the houseless? Hmmm...that WOULD be interesting indeed! A dream of course. Oh well...capitalism is far more important...isn't it? We host the Olympics here in Los Angeles, and the police state here will be enormous. Hell, you couldn't even get into downtown L.A. during the Democratic Convention when it was hosted here. I never saw so many deputy sheriffs and police officers and National Guardsmen in my life. All for a corporatized, fake, two-party system that monopolizes the so-called "democratic?" system that clearly doesn't actually exist in this country anyway. Democratic Republic...HA! Boycott the Olympics!
Heinz Niederhoff July 25, 2014 at 11:39 am
Why not? The 1984 Olympics were a success story. The whole city came together. If we can repeat whatRead More we did under the leadership of Peter Ueberroth, it could be a win-win situation for the city and its people. We don't need to build any new major facilities - just some updates. Let us get the right people together, stay out of politics and above all, be confident and believe in your heart that we, all the citizens of Los Angeles, can show the world that we can still do it without subsidies.
Bryan Stow was beaten and severely injured at Dodgers Stadium in March 2011. A jury has found the Dodgers business entity negligent in its security for the stadium. Patch file photo.

About 20 years ago, my husband was hit in the face by a drunk dodger fan and the man continued untilRead More I showed up in front of the man---Pregnant--two weeks due and was yelling and asking him what he was doing and why he had hit my husband in the face. Someone from dodger stadium came and wrote the incident down but nothing happened---No apology---nothing. The guys simply hit him because the dodger ticket agent was taking too long---so he hit my husband in the face. I'm glad this has happened to the dodgers.
Douglas Quillin July 10, 2014 at 08:38 am
This article is a little confusing. LA Times says the jury found the Dodgers "shared just 25%Read More of the liability for Stow's injuries." Still, the law requires they pay for all of the injury expense. Well, I'm no lawyer!

Didn't they say Brian was dead drunk egging these guys on? Where's his culpability in all this? GoneRead More are the days when we took responsibility for our actions.

I never heard that but if true a appeal will happen if there is any justice.

Glad to see limits (hopefully) being place on high school football. The research shows time andRead More time again the damage being done to the human brain after consistent hits to the head. Minimizing the risk seems like the natural and best thing to do.
JMarsh July 10, 2014 at 02:15 pm
I totally agree with limiting the chance of brain trauma. One thing we need to remember is thatRead More junior high and high school students' brains are still developing.
Giorgio C. July 10, 2014 at 04:39 pm
For those who think it is ok for your kid to get their brain throttled, do you support their use ofRead More drugs, too? Mixed messages.

Use to like the Dodger until racist Magic Johnson got involved with ownership of the team. I can'tRead More stand that guy! Such a hypocrite!
Laura June 19, 2014 at 04:08 pm
It was a no-hitter - it just wasn't a perfect game. And yes, I agree that this is inexcusable. We'reRead More missing what very well could be Vin Scully's final season. I blame the Dodgers ownership for asking the absurdly high fee that Time Warner was dumb enough to pay. I don't blame the other providers a bit for not going along. The Dodgers obviously don't care about having an audience, as long as they've already got that audience's money.
George June 20, 2014 at 12:41 am
Shame on hypocrite Magic Johnson!

That "rather dingy-looking cafe in an apparently rundown section of Gotham," is theRead More legendary Katz's Deli on New York's Lower East Side. What a wretched couple! No amount of charitable donations (past, present and future) will everRead More compensate for the pain and suffering inflicted on innocent people, including their own children. Too little, too late.

Is it just me or am i so disgusted with this on going saga with the Sterlings. One day they agree toRead More sell next day Donald is suing the NBA. Following day Shelly agrees to sell for 2 Bil. Following day Donald wants to sue Shelly. Is this legal system that crazy or are these money blood sucking attorneys carrying this on to continue billing these millions in legal fees. I am saddened by this latest development but I understand that Mr. Sperling is an elderly manRead More suffering a hideous illness. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. Where is Barbara Peterson's truthful comment? I see that patch.com cencors it member comments. TheyRead More are supportive to num nutz Obamamy. Any right minded people who can see this scandal RE Donald Sterling was manufactured by Magic Johnson and the gang of rick N's including talk show fatty Oprah Winfrey. She along with Al Sharpton was the biggest hypocrites that EVER walked this planet. All made rich by white America yet they resent white people. Oprah build a school in Africa for girl. No whites allowed. Why couldn't she build a school herein America the country that made her rich for all races of children? The talk show fatty is such an egomaniac she has a magazine and she is on the cover every issue. If they does not prove how full of herself she is I do not know what does.
