PHOTOS: North Hollywood and East Valley High Soccer Teams Kick Off Season With Friendly Scrimmage

North Hollywood High School Varsity Soccer has more history and experience going into the new soccer season, as they leave East Valley High School scoreless on their turf.

On Wednesday night, East Valley High School hosted a scrimmage soccer game against North Hollywood High School on their sports field, which is situated alongside Vineland Avenue near Chandler Boulevard. North Hollywood High's varsity soccer team demonstrated their strength and depth in the friendly pre-season exhibition game, scoring five unanswered goals and clearly dominating the match. The majority of the spectators were East Valley students, and although the "cross-town rivals" surely defeated their Falcons in the exhibition match, feelings remained friendly between the two schools. VIDEO: CRA Provides Updates On NoHo Construction Projects

Gazala Pirzada, project manager for CRA/LA, gives updates on NoHo projects in the pipeline, and informs the MTNHNC board and meeting attendees about the possibility of the CRA disappearing in the near future.

Gazala Pirzada, Project Manager of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) in North Hollywood, updated the Mid-town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council on Wednesday about current North Hollywood projects not affected by the State of California's Supreme Court stay, concerning the law seeking to dissolve redevelopment agency operation throughout the state (Bills ABX1 26, which calls for the elimination of redevelopment agencies and create successor agencies; and ABX1 27, where redevelopment agencies that make payments to the state are exempt from elimination). Pirzada informed the attendees that these two recent bills have passed in California and are directly affecting the CRA's functions. Pirzada also gave updates on the NoHo Senior …

PHOTOS: Rain Comes to NoHo, Yet Sun Still Shines

The storm clouds came and went, bringing NoHo rain showers in the first half of the day, and leaving behind a nice and sunny afternoon.

A cold Pacific storm brought record rain and high winds to North Hollywood and Toluca Lake Wednesday, along with chilly temperatures and more than triple the car crashes from a week earlier. Here are some artistic photos documenting the first major rainfall in many months.

WATCH: Pro Skateboarder's Mom Takes Passionate Stand at NHNENC Meeting

Susan Williams of Save A Heart Save A Mind Foundation presents a request for community assistance for her organization that helps teens stay out of trouble.

The North Hollywood North East Neighborhood Council met Thursday at Arminta Street Elementary School night and discussed several community issues. Senior Lead Officer Esther Vasquez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division presented the crime events of the month. Officer Vasquez noted that overall crime has dipped in the area she represents, due to citizens calling police when criminal activity is occurring, helping the Foothill Division better implement its resources. A possible new park and street improvement issues were also discussed. Vasquez also discussed the homicide that occurred on the 7600 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard Sept. 9. Scanner Report: Woman Wants Suicide-by-Cop, Says Caller

This is the Scanner Report, detailing a number of LAPD and LAFD radio transmissions from early this morning, Aug. 24.

August 24, 2011 Wednesday Morning 2:00 a.m.  Fair Avenue and Cumpston Street, North Hollywood North Hollywood Division LAPD receives a call for a "screaming woman" at the location. The patrol officers are directed to respond, "code 3" (use lights and sirens for emergency response). Additional information given from the person reporting is that the woman is located in the "beige complex" (color of the apartment building) at the site. 2:05 a.m.  5500 block of Bonner Avenue, North Hollywood This call is related to the initial Fair Avenue and Cumpston Street "screaming woman" call. North Hollywood Division Patrol units receive additional information from another caller witnessing the incident. The caller informs that "the victim was probably …
