Bar One Owners to Open New Coffee Spot in Valley Village

Steampunk Coffee Bar & Kitchen is slated to open in a couple of weeks.

Near the corner of Burbank Boulevard and Whitsett Avenue is the now-closed Cafe Del Mar, which had served everything from Mexican food to pizza to paninis.  The one-story building now dons a newly-painted terra cotta exterior, and North-Hollywood Toluca Lake Patch got word a new bar would be coming into town.

The new spot is just a few doors down from Beer & Wine Parlour, but bar owners Sean and Arelene Heitkemper have no need to worry about competition moving in.

The new "bar" will be called Steampunk Coffee Bar & Kitchen, and it's the latest venture from the Heitkempers, who opened Bar ONE in 2007.

In an email interview, Sean said the new cafe will serve Caffé Vita coffee from Seattle, and the menu will feature breakfast and lunch dishes.

"Out of the same kitchen, we have already started serving savory bites to complement our beer and wine at Bar ONE," Sean writes. The bar recently added slider burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, flatbreads, and Belgian-style fries to its menu.
