Security Stepped Up at NoHo School After Kidnapping Attempt

By City News Service

Security was stepped up Thursday at a North Hollywood elementary school, where a 10-year-old girl was able to escape an attempted kidnapping by biting the hand of the would-be abductor and running to school officials.

The girl was with two friends participating in an afternoon school program at Coldwater Canyon Elementary School, 6850 Coldwater Canyon Avenue, when at one point she stopped to tie a shoe and the suspect grabbed her waist and covered her mouth, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Wendy Reyes said.

Police were dispatched to the elementary school on an attempted kidnapping call at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Reyes said.
