'Swatting' Hoax Sends Police to Exclusive Toluca Lake Neighborhood

Was the home that of Steve Carell or P. Diddy?

Police fell victim Wednesday to another in an apparent series of "swatting" calls reporting phony crimes at the homes of celebrities, with the hoax this time sending officers to an exclusive Toluca Lake neighborhood.

Officers went to the 10300 block of Woodbridge Street shortly before 11 a.m. on a report of an "assault in progress," Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department said.

"Officers checked, and quickly determined that everything was fine," French said.

The celebrity website TMZ.com reported that the home belonged to actor Steve Carell, but KNBC4 reported that the home targeted by the call was actually linked to rapper P. Diddy.

Other celebrities who have been targeted by swatting calls include Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher.
