Beverly Garland Hotel to Become Boutique Hotel

The Beverly Garland in North Hollywood will spend the next six months undergoing a $20 million transformation into a boutique hotel. 

Located at 4222 Vineland Ave., the hotel was built in 1970 by real estate developer Fillmore Crank, who named the property after his wife, actress Beverly Garland.

Now, second-generation owner James Crank says he has a new vision for his family's legacy.

"It’s been a dream of mine to turn this beautiful property into a unique boutique hotel,” he said. “Our focus on service and the guest experience coupled with our determination to create an alternative hotel offering in Los Angeles will surely surpass expectations.”

Renovations began last month to convert the Beverly Garland to what's to be known as The Garland. The revamped hotel will "mirror a sophisticated, retro-cool California style and experience" complete with 242 guest rooms, 14 suites and a new outdoor garden space.

The new design was completed by the firm Forchielli Glynn, known for its work with hotel properties such as Miraval Resort and the Peninsula Beverly Hills, and Rossi Architecture, who designed the remodel of the Riviera Palm Springs.

Executive Chef Warren Schultz, who ran the hotel restaurant Tula's at the Beverly Garland has already replaced the eatery with Warren's Blackboard, which is a experimental and community-focused eatery blending comfort food with seasonal ingredients.
