Valley Village is home to about 22,000 people, and about a third of that number will be venturing down the street to participate in the Colfax World Fair. This is the biggest annual event in Valley Village, second only to the popular 4th of July Parade. Not only will guests expect to have a great time, but every dollar that they spend will go directly to helping the children at Colfax Charter Elementary School.
This home town fair is produced exclusively by parent and community volunteers and features family-friendly games and attractions, two food courts, a huge silent auction with over 500 items, raffles, and musical performances throughout the day. My Gym hosts Toddler Town, an area exclusively for babies and children under 6 years of age. An adjacent street will be closed for the day and transformed into Morella Water Park - an entire block filled with water slides, obstacle courses, and a tent housing Ultrazone Laser Tag.
The Colfax World Fair takes place today from 12 noon – 7:00 pm at Colfax Charter Elementary School, 11724 Addison St., Valley Village (one-half mile east of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and four blocks north of Riverside Drive). Admission and parking are free. Credit cards and cash are accepted to purchase tickets for attractions, games and food.
Here are some of the great events that will take place at the fair:
Hourly Puppet Parades
Colfax parents Lisa Clyde and Jim Peace own the extremely popular Kiddie Karoo which performs at events and concerts throughout Southern California. Every hour they will be parading throughout the fair with their amazing puppets. Kiddie Karoo might even sing their hit song Silly Monsters.
These are the very biggest and best inflatables allowed by LAUSD: Slideasaurus, Adrenaline Rush Extreme, Speed Racer Challenge Jr., Junior World Sports, Big 51' Obstacle, Mini Obstacle, Accelerator Double Lane, Big Kahuna, and Big Wave Slide.
Morella Water Park
The adjacent street to the west of Colfax will be blocked off, creating Morella Water Park - entire area for super soaking fun in the sun! Follow the Yellow Brick Road under the huge balloon arch to enter. Inflatables include Goliath, Double Splash Rapids, and Slip & Slide, the water balloon game Hydro Blaster, and the tween/teen crowd pleaser Velcro Wall and Ultrazone Laser Tag. A new food vendor – Corn Heaven, will be selling corn on the cob with a variety of gourmet toppings. There is also a Drinks Station and a second Ticket Booth. Be sure to bring your towel and lots of sunscreen!
This area is like a good old fashioned carnival: Fish Booth, Knock Down, Tic Tac Toe, Yacht Races, Bullseye, Ring Toss, Flip a Frog, Bean Bag Toss, Pins, Golf, Can Smash, Hula Hoops, and of course the Prize Booth where you can cash in all your winnings.
Other booths will be scattered throughout the fair. You’ll find Art by Karina’s Face Paint, Tattoo Booth, Hair Flair, Kinect Sports, Dance Craze, Photo Booth, Fresh Pressed Silk Screen Printing, Good Work(s) Make A Difference leather wraps, Balloons by Party Décor ‘R” Us, Ann Closs-Farley’s Trashtastic, Grow Your Own Plants, and the Mister Tent where you can cool off.
An entire area just for babies and toddlers! Besides ongoing activities hosted by My Gym, Toddler Town will have the Animal Kingdom inflatable, Fun Station Express, various games for young children, Toddler Treats including grapes and apple slices, and a Sweet Station selling snow cones and candy.

Last year the Colfax World Fair attracted approximately 7,000 guests and raised $140,000 in a single day. This money is used to fund student programs that have been cut by LAUSD, extracurricular activities, teacher’s aides, and other fundamentals that make Colfax Charter Elementary such a highly sought school.
