P. Gators Closes in NoHo

Less than two months after its ribbon cutting, P. Gators Southern Grill has closed its doors in the NoHo Arts District, but the restaurant's owner says he plans to open another eatery with different offerings at the same location.

Paul Hiles says apparently people weren't as excited as he was to have to have dishes like catfish, briskets and collard greens in the neighborhood.

"It really didn't do good business," he said.

Hiles often referred to P. Gators' food as a healthier version of classic southern dishes.

He says he does plan to open a new restaurant at the same spot with a different batch of health conscious selections and a salad bar.

But he doesn't know when that's going to happen. Hiles hangs onto the lease at 11049 Magnolia Blvd. in the meantime.
